We believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.
we believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried;
he descended to the dead.
On the third day he rose again;
he ascended into heaven,
he is seated at the right hand of the Father,
and he will come to judge the living and the dead.
we believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting.
“What do you mean by ‘catholic Church'”? Well, this is an ancient and orthodox creed recited by generations of believers. The term “catholic” refers to all believers united in Christ or all Christians belonging to the community of all Christian churches. The catholic (notice the lower case c) means literally: all-inclusive — including or concerned with all people; useful to all; all-embracing. Therefore, used in the context of the church, catholic means inclusive to and embracing of all followers of Christ. If this were referring to the denomination it would be Catholic Church.
